Flexible metal tube has different structure and mode of production from other so far described types of flexible tubes. The outer braid of textile mesh enhance the protection when working with the high temperature mediums, while braid of stainless steel mesh makes the tube resistant to high pressure and protects it from external influences.

This type of pipe is used when there are no high safety requirements regarding working pressure, temperature, medium aggressiveness and environmental conditions. Therefore, in most cases, these tubes have no distinctive outer and inner layers, but its reinforcement (if there is any) is inserted into a common layer that corresponds to the required medium. For PA, PE, PI and PTFE flexible tubes outer diameter is important since its fittings have no "legs" to be inserted into the tube, so they have to be inserted from the outside.
For PVC and thermoplastic flexible tubes inner diameter is important since its fittings have the "legs" that have to be tucked in the tube and fixed using clips, clamps, BAND-IT tape or low-pressure pressed shells.

This type of tube is used when there are no high safety requirements regarding medium work-pressure, but work temperature, medium aggressiveness or work conditions do not allow the use of cheaper low-pressure plastic tube. They are produced in two ways::

  • by extrusion, or "long-length" serial production are produced hoses for air, oxygen, acetylene, butane, LPG gas, water and hoses used on gas stations. The limitation of this procedure is the size of inner diameter, which cannot exceed 25 mm..

This type of tube is used for external protection, but when there are no specific requirements regarding the external temperature or medium aggressiveness. Therefore, the materials used are cheaper rubber hoses without reinforcement, produced mainly by extraction ("long-length") method. Outer braid made out of textile, stainless steel, aluminum or galvanized steel mesh, ensures the pressure stability and protects against external influences.
These tubes use low-pressure fittings which are inserted with "legs" drawn into the tube and then pressed by low-pressure shell. Low-pressure presses (up to 13 mm of inner diameter), or high-pressure presses (for larger internal diameter) are used for insertion.
